Wining and dining, Italian style!
Join us for a refreshing 4-hour tour of osterias, trattorias, pastry shops and wine bars to experience the traditional flavors of Venice.
Starting in historic Campo San Giacometto, we’ll get a feel for this bustling center of commerce, as it was in ancient times. Our first stop will be for Venice tapas called cicchetti. These zesty bite-sized appetizers are prepared with locally sourced meats, cheeses and produce. They‘ll whet your appetite as we travel on.
Food is a major part of Italian life, and the Canal City of Venice is a spectacular backdrop to the rich and varied dining experiences you’ll encounter here. Plates heaping with fresh olives and beds of delicate polenta cradling marinated seafood are but a few of the delicacies. Enjoy your guide’s stories as he educates and entertains you while you meander leisurely through town.
Browse through merchandise in markets overflowing with fish, vegetables and produce of every shape and size. We’ll cross the famous Rialto Bridge to an interesting 18th Century osteria known locally for its outstanding cicchetti, where we’ll share a bottle of Prosecco and learn about regional wines.
Our next destination is Campo San Bartolomeo, and the Marco Polo House, Casanova’s stomping grounds, exquisite churches and art masterpieces. Hear more stories about the area and its fabulous food traditions. Perhaps you’ll try a Bellini cocktail, a signature drink of Venice.
We’ll walk to Campo Santi Giovanni e Paolo where a spectacular dessert of Tiramisu awaits. Did you know that the drinking of coffee in Italy began right here in Venice?
This captivating tour of central Venice is easily accessible from local hotels. Let our English-speaking guide make suggestions for additional places to visit while you’re in Italy.
