This was one of our favorite food tours in Europe! Matteo (I think that was his name) was a great tour guide during the Jewish Ghetto food tour. All the spots we were taken too were amazing without being overwhelmed by food, and there was great variety of food choices from traditional roman / jewish dishes, to the poplar roman classics. The places we went too felt very authentic (definitely NOT touristy), and our guide offered some great insights and honesty about food in the city. The experience was really chill, and it was really fun meeting the other people on the tour. Overall highly recommend!

We had an amazing time. Maria our guide was excellent. She provided great information about the local area and spoken in detail about the delicious food we were eating. The Roman cuisine was unique and very enjoyable. Great pairing of wines with our samples. My favorite tasting was at the sit down restaurant where we had carbonara and pasta with mushrooms. During the tour we were able to learn about the history of the areas we were walking through. The tour was setup very well and the tasting of the food was great. The tour ended with my two other favorites, espresso and gelato.

We had a really lovely evening on this tour, Marco our tour guide was very knowledgeable on the local landmarks within the Jewish Ghetto. We strolled along to each of the food locations, enjoying the tastiness of all the 7 courses and history from Marco. Most importantly we had a blast meeting and getting to know the other people on our tour. Really appreciated Marcos recommendations on where to eat authentic Italian food. We made great use of this the following evening! We really enjoyed our food, wine and beer. I highly recommend this tour and from start to finish was ran efficiently, food was excellent and was fun. We will be back again!

This tour was recommended by a friend of ours. It didn't disappoint. Our tour guide was Fabrizia, a spunky, very well informed whip of an Italian woman with a cute accent. She was a wealth of information and shared it tirelessly throughout the four hours we spent with her. There is no doubt that she made this experience much more enjoyable that it would have been otherwise. We started the tour in the Jewish area of Rome with a tasting of three small Jewish dishes. Wine was included. Unfortunately, nothing was really interesting. It didn't seem like a good start but that was the only disappointing experience in the evening. The second stop was at another Jewish restaurant for a taste of fried artichoke; not exactly my cup of tea but my wife really enjoyed it. Afterwards we went for a pasta sampling that included amatriciana, carbonara, spinach and cacio e peppe. All of them were really good and served with a choice of red or white wine, both of good quality. Moving on we headed to a small pizza joint called Corner Pizza, which was just amazing (read my review separately). You'd think we were pretty full by then, but we still had two stops to go: one for tiramisu (delicious with several flavors to choose from at Two Sizes) and for gelato at Gunther's gelato, another really delicious choice. The tour lasted 4 hours and was so worth it. One of our best experiences in Rome, thanks in big part to Fabrizia!

OK, I have found my next husband. Or boyfriend. My spouse does not mind. On a food+ tour of the San Giovanni/Appio neighborhood with Giorgia, we met Francesco Loreti at his mind-blowing cheese shop (La Formaggeria) at the excellent local market. We stayed far too long, enjoying one another's company, being introduced to local chefs neighborhood characters. Francesco loves cheese beyond measure and is humble about his extraordinary position as an international judge. He even made us try a terrific English cheese, this year awarded first prize, best in the world. And he is so cute, don't you think? But wait, there was MUCH more... Pizza with the freshest mozzarella & basil. Then pasta and a perfect frascati superiore wine for lunch at a beloved area ristorante, Roberto & Loretta. There we ran into theatre, film and TV star Leo Gullotta!!! He was sitting quietly at a table next to us, acknowledging greetings politely, comfortable because no one fussed or annoyed him. We pulled ourselves away to sample some of Italy's best gelato down the block at Riva Reno. I had two flavors - tart, fresh limone and sweet fragola (strawberry). Van had toasted pine nut and morena (fior di latte with black cherry) con panna (with whipped cream). Then we wrapped up the afternoon at the Basilica di San Giovanni in Laterano -- a place we have always meant to see, the Pope's first residence and church. Our guide Giorgia is such a sweet and lovely young lady from Calabria. She made us promise to visit her mountains, the sea, and other attractions in the far south some time soon. She even sent us links to some of her favorite Italian singers and songs. It was such a personal, meaningful tour - once again - from a wonderful company.
