This 4-hours walking food tour begins at the statue of Giordano Bruno, located in the center of this vibrant square. Your guide will share insights into the intriguing and controversial history of Bruno, who remains a significant figure for the Roman community. Afterward, you'll enjoy a delightful experience exploring the market, sampling a variety of fresh Italian delicacies, including truffles, pesto, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and more. As you wander through the charming side streets stemming from Campo de' Fiori, you'll make your way to an excellent butcher, where you can savor local wine paired with high-quality cheese and cured meats. This first segment of your tour provides a wonderful opportunity to indulge in a memorable lunch featuring local wines, all set against the backdrop of one of the city’s oldest theaters!
After discovering the hidden gems of Campo dei Fiori, and having lunch in a traditional trattoria by the ruins of the most ancient Roman theater, the walk continues as your guide takes you to this delightful square. You will learn about its history, including its origins and transformations, as well as the Fountain of the Four Rivers. This masterpiece was commissioned by the Pope and created by Bernini to enhance the square's beauty. You’ll also have the opportunity to taste the best Tiramisù in the area and find out why this dessert is the most beloved Italian treat around the globe.
Admire the Pantheon from outside, but before we will stop by one of the top gelato spots in the area. It's a great way to wrap up the "food portion" of your tour, followed by a taste of some of the best coffee you've ever had! As for the Pantheon itself, this stunning building—currently referred to as the Chiesa di Santa Maria ad Martyres—has been standing for nearly 2,000 years. Not only is it a church, but it also serves as a mausoleum, containing the tombs of several significant figures in Italian history.
As we cross Via del Corso, the main street in Rome, you will admire at the Trevi Fountain, the final destination of the tour. This massive marble sculpture, which celebrates the magnificence of water, took 30 years to finish and was commissioned by the Pope. Finished in 1725, it is undoubtedly one of the most famous fountains globally. In the hopes of returning to Rome someday, countless tourists toss coins into the fountain's basin! The district is home to three world-class coffee roasters, a handful of artisan gelaterias serving handcrafted ice cream, and two of Rome’s most skilled salami makers. In addition to housing the Italian Parliament, the area also contains various governmental offices, leading to a concentration of upscale restaurants, fine wine shops, wine bars, delicatessens, and patisseries.
